Last Days

Will Jesus Christ Send His Bride Through the Tribulation?

He already has. I mean all those Christians and faithful for the last 2000 years that suffered tribulation and persecution for the name of Jesus would say so I’m sure of that – or are they not the bride? I guess that is what you would say right?

Oh wait a minute… you mean us… the Christians in the last 5 minutes of history part of the church, will not suffer tribulation – or – you mean The Great Tribulation – cap T,G,T?.. we are not going to go through this particular tribulation? Hmm ok – sounds good to me. Not altogether fair though on the rest of Christendom – not that fair or not is my prerogative.

Trouble is, now I’m feeling a little uncomfortable actually knowing that I get to escape it all – thinking that for some odd reason (what is this reason incidentally?) that I am going to miss all the tribulation – I mean what am I going to say to all those that died horrible deaths and suffered tribulation for Christ up until now (and right at this moment in some places) when I meet them in heaven?

Me, I’m not pre, mid or post – in fact, none of this timing stuff occurred to me as an issue until I heard about Left Behind. In fact, even then I still didn’t get what the fuss was about – the first thing that did come to mind re escaping any tribulation was the question; why are we, in this part of the word, in the last minute of 6000 years of world history the only (clearly unbelievably blessed, and I’m not sure why, other than perhaps the fact that in this part of the world we have had the light of The Bible seeping into all parts of society and our laws – a light quickly dimming) group that seem to miss any tribulation? I feel uncomfortable just thinking about it, but if that’s what they tell us is going to happen, then I guess we shoud go along with it. Quite comforting really.

I like to encourage, but I don’t like to give false hope about something I wouldn’t like to wager on (as one can argue it any way from scripture thus to me making its mention in The Bible more of a note that it is going to happen in the last days particularly badly as well as along the way, rather than a warning of when it’s going to happen) and in any case, this tribulation business only seems important to me from a personal comfort view point, and if we are to model Christ and walk in his foot steps who had no comfort – not evan a pillow and great tribulation, why do we get to escape it? But again… if you say so.

So what do you think then? I mean I may have this all wrong and I’m quite happy to be taught and learn from someone more knowledgeable. Is the bride not going to go through tribulation at the very last days? I have to say – right or wrong, it’s not even an issue but it seems to be a huge issue for a great many people so please enlighten me:)
