I think we know why by now – but for those that never considered the question…
We all recognise these days a phobia is generally thought of as an illness. If I have a phobia of dirt, spiders or anything I have a nervous disposition that is not normal and needs urgent treatment by a doctor or better – a psychotherapist who can untangle my unreasonable, stupid and confused thoughts about the matter and make me whole and well again.
So why do opponents of those who want to conserve all that is old, and right and proper – ‘Phobic’?
Well – what better way to slap your opponents in the dirt by labelling them as basically ‘mad’ – but doing it using a medical term, and thus your labelling of them is done with a ‘sad’ ‘caring’ tone as if you are being kind – and that by having a phobia your poor opponents are to be pitied! Simply chuck the word phobic on the end of anything your opponent disagrees with you on – genius! No one wants to be labelled as having an illness.
Incredibly I don’t have an illness if I disagree with you – so don’t label me as having one
Hmm… I wonder if that’s got anything thing to do with it? Newsflash; the fact is – people who disagree with someone else may not be phobic at all! But this cannot be allowed in the close-em-down world of the liberal left – goodness I hate the terms left and right (it should be about right and wrong – right?) but that’s for another time.
Come to think of it – I wonder how well it would go down if I labelled anyone that wanted to close my opinion down without an reasoned argument – preferably before I’ve even spoken lest they hear the truth – as a Heedaphobic?
