I would not purport to know the answer to this myself, but I am very concerned that gun control has throughout history, often been used as a means to take power away from the masses by dubious governors and governments and what I do know, is that before all of histories’ greatest dictatorial tyrants took over nations, it was almost always proceeded by making it illegal to own arms which were prompting taken away from the people. Why is this a problem?
Well, we in Europe – several generations away from the horrors of war and despotic dictators like Hitler (one of an endless list of dictators that made guns illegal before taking over) are ignorant of the real reasons why a country like America, which has to date been the greatest nation on earth that has ever existed, allows its citizens to carry arms.
I grew up being told that yes America was great, but that it had one big problem which made it a totally unsafe place – guns. What I was never told was the reason America has guns in the first place, and when I understood that the founding fathers wrote it into the US constitution, and insisted that the people should not only be able to up arms if they wanted – but should the government ever became despotic and take too much power, that it was the people’s duty to depose such a government!
This is why Americans to date have been allowed to own arms – it was insisted upon by very wise and God-fearing men that knew too much power always corrupts, and that guns were the people’s last resort should they ever be unfortunate enough to find themselves with a oppressive leader like the ones we sea in North Korea and many others – all of whom insist on gun control under the pretence of public safety – but in truth as a means to stop the people having the power to stand up to a despotic government should they need to.
In other words, we in countries like the UK, where the idea of guns seems surreal, feel that way because we have been fed the idea that owning guns is bad – period – and all we ever hear reported in the main-stream media are the lives taken wrongly related to the ownership of guns. However we are never told about the many lives saved by good citizens carrying concealed arms who see trouble and are prepare to risk their lives for others often saving the day, or the reason I explained above that guns were allowed in the first place.
The problem, in this time of ‘peace’ – we cannot conceive that such dictators would ever rise in the West, but this is exactly the kind of complacency that the founding fathers were aware of when they warned us that; freedom from despots is hard to gain – but easily lost – and that the price of freedom is eternal vigilance!
Either way and whatever your view, the following video may shed more light on the truth and real statistics about guns in the US and their good and bad effects on society. We believe people should know the facts and not listen to the media without doing their own research on any matter.
