What… you mean I have to do unspiritual things for people that serve no spiritual purpose whatsoever? Well I’m onluy interetd in doing things that wil save their soul. I’ll pray for them show them the Bible… tell them how they need to clean up their life, but don;t ask me to do something that serves no eternal purpose whatsoever like take them to the store, do their gardening or pick up their kids from school! Give me God’s work to do and I’ll do it any day!
What if God can save people by ways other than the ones you know and have heard and been told about? Did you know the only Bible some people will get to read before they get saved is YOUR life?
Did you know how many skeptical unbelievers there are out there that are watching your life, and using YOUR life as the excuse why they have no desire to be like let alone become a hypocritical Christian?
Did you know the Bible says faith without works is meaningless? Did you know this is true? (by the way it doesn’t say you are saved by works – you are saved from your laziness and slothfulness and greed and envy and murderous thoughts towards your friends and enemies by faith through grace, but you will be rewarded in heaven by the deeds that you do here on earth! Yes you heard it here first (hopefully you read it in the Bible first).
Let’s do physical practical things for our friends and neighbours so they can see what love is. Most Bibles say the greated thing is love. But The interestingly The King James Bible – you know the one that people laugh at for being old (even though God says there is nothing new under the sun and God never chnges) says; and the greatetest of these is wait for it; Charity – and yes charity IS love. You know – when you give the most precious things that you don;t want to give to someone or some organisation that needs it.
And before you say; “this is just works – we do not want to get into all that works based stuff”. Let’s take a very good look at our leader, you know – Jesus Christ, and see what he had to say – or to be more precise – had to DO to pull us out of the dirt, off the filthy streets of iniquity and clean us up, tend to our physical and spiritual needs and get us into the celestial city and kingdom of everlasting joy hapiness and freedom from sin and poverty.
Jesus Christ – our commander in chief, the person whom we are called to emulate and become like, his greatest act was not a prayer – or a fast – or a donation – or a pat on the back – or nice word for us – a people in need… it was a purely physical act of charity. Whereby he gave up his second most valuable possessions – his wealth and time and strength, carrying the cross all the way to Calvary – for his most prized possession he had – his physical body for you and I. He carried out the greatest act of love in history and it was a phisical act or charity. That other more precisly descriptive and largely lost word for the real meaning of love.
It is no wonder that todays Christians who constantly read in their new Bibles; “…and the greatest of these is love” – think they have nothing more to do that love on people. When the real meaning of love is self sacrifice and serving – AKA Charity. If God has blessed you today please bless someone else today in return. “For whatsoever you did to the least of these you did to me.”
