I think yes and below are a few reasons why. But I may be wrong so don’t take my word for it! Go to the scriptures and ask The Holy Spirit to teach you – take Gods’ word for it. But a word of warning; if you are looking for loopholes in The Bible – i.e scripture that allows you to fit your own lifestyle and sins into it – rather than fitting your lifestyle to the Bible – you will find what you are looking for – i.e ‘strong delusion’ the Bible calls this. The sinful mind will always see scripture the wrong way if it s looking for loopholes so be prepared to change your thoughts and lifestyle!
From the Old Testament we have; “They will look upon me who they pierced.” Is this not God speaking? Is it possible to argue with this verse as not showing Jesus to be God (who The Bible says is ‘spirit’ in flesh).
Do as I do – not do as I say; This would make sense as clearly God demonstrates in the Abraham Isaac story that He was prepared to do at least the same for his people. Now God asks us to follow Jesus – to be prepared to give up our lives as Jesus did – yet suddenly God is no longer willing to do as he says himself, stopping short of being prepared to give himself for us. This is not the character of pure love which is totally sacrifical – giveing up oneself. God must surely have been demonstrating this aspect of his love.
Man is not enough to rule the world justly and in an incorruptible way. Messiah would need to be God.
Romans 11; The Spirit of God (implying God had other facets or at least God is spirit as the Bible says), who raised Jesus from the dead. Not proof of deity
1 john 3 :16 says GOD laid down his life! Jesus is God according to that! Please check this out in case wrong.
“Jesus is the firstborn of all creation” – what does this statement mean? In old testament first born is a title and expression of rank (Psalm 89:20-27) – so perhaps he was born first – or – he is first born in rank (the latter at least we can all agree on I’m sure?)
100% God? Well yes, but logic (and God is a God of order right?) would say that only in the sense that if God needs to come to earth he needs a human body (so his body is not God) but Jesus the man – human flash body was man incarnate? Jesus’ human body was not God – as God is Spirit. Now Gods’ spirit in the resurrected body perhaps the new body and spirit are one and the same? This I don’t know. But I would agree – Jesus was God – in flesh! But Jesus flesh – the flesh that was replaced by a glorified body – no this old flesh was the same as yours and mine – this is WHY he alone was so qualified to lay down the law as God experienced life just as we do. But don’t take my word – do your OWN searching for the truth in Gods’ word (The bible) and God promises (he says; “you need be taught of no man” and “The holy Spirit will teach you all things”) to show you more light!
If The Messiah is a man – then we have no real way of knowing who is is when he comes – many men have claimed to be messiah and many will claim it in future – Jesus promised this. What man would appear with a flash from east to west.
The trinity is nonsesne – but wait. If God wanted to come to earth and demostrate his willingness to experiwnce all the things we experience he would need a body – and hey – that means he he would need to have a mans body – just like ours! So wether we like it or not – if God (who the bible teslsl us is sprit) did come to earth wrapped up inside the flesh of Christ. In fact – this is the ONLY way God could det foot on earth!
Lastly, The Bible says; “here is no love greater than a man lay down his life for another. So God at the very least if he were to be the most loving being in the universe would need to be a man and lay down his life for another (us).
Isiah 9:6 says; Jesus is a mighty God and prince of peace?
John2:19-21- the plain reading tells us Jesus is God, but still not proof as you can argue that Jesus is doing miracles on behalf of God.
John 20:27 – again, the plain reading tells us Jesus is God, but still not proof as you can argue that Jesus is doing miracles on behalf of God.
Mark 2:5-7
“Why does this man speak like that? He is blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone.” Whilst this again does not prove that Jesus was God incarnate (because he may still have been telling the people that god was forgiving them) it is yet another instance where the witnesses certainly had it in their minds when watching Jesus that he was in fact claiming to have the power of forgiveness. Granted still not proof (incidentally I don’t think God ever gives proof for a reason – that being faith!. Just look at creation – it is not proof that God created everything yet God says “man is without excuse simply buy the sheer size and number of seemingly miraculous creations within it.
Luke 7:48 – And he said to her, “Your sins are forgiven.” On plain reading Jesus appears to be God, but the above still applies – i.e it’s not proof.
They say Jesus was not God because he was a man. But this completely misses teh obvious fact that if God wanted to come to earth and taste the sufferings of men – so that he was fully authorised to tell us was was what – let alone have some authority to tell us to do as I do and not just as I say – he would need a human body to reside in! So if God was to come to earth and be seen by us and taken serioulsy He – the great sprirt would HAVE to become a man by taking on flesh! In the beginning was the word (God’s spirit). And the word was with god and the wrod was God. Then we read; “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. Indeed God taking on flesh and become or rather appearing in flesh as do our spirits – is the only way he could have appeared if he was going to partake in mans sufferings.
