You cannot use the mirror to wash your face you must go to the water source and wash yourself in that. But without the mirror you will not even know your face is dirty. This is what the law is for – a mirror! I’ll let Ravi Zacharias say it like it is as he does a far better job than me.
Of course – in NO way does this mean the law has been done away with as JESUS said this without question… “not one jot or title of the law will pass away” and also when he said; “I did not come to do away with the law but to fulfil it” – in other words Jesus came to be the one person that DID keep the law in full and is therefore the only person in a position to judge the world.
And don’t listen to people who try to tell you to ignore the 10 commandments (these simple and frankly easy-to-keep 10 laws that can be summarised in 2 commandment but need to be expanded into 10 in order to know exactly what ‘loving your neighbour’ means, if put back in all our homes, schools and universities would solve 99% the world’s problems). Let’s face it, when you look at the 10 commandments they are not that hard to keep actually – BUT… you and I will break them at times and perhaps in a serious way and we are in need of grace.
