I used to wonder in my early Christian days why Jesus said this – why on earth people would be offended at Jesus in the last days, who offered them salvation and forgiveness and love and eternal life? But now all has become clear, as we see the new crime is ‘offending’ someone with your opinions and beliefs very much in ‘George Orwell’ style.
Yep – once again Jesus was not just right, but spot-on describing that actual crime by word, so there would be no mistaking what he was talking about when it happened. Accordingly we see just as he predicted, people offended by him, his teachings which I cannot find fault with, and his followers, calling what is good bad, and bad good.
I used the word ‘bad’ and not ‘evil’, because I don’t want to offend anyone.
