How We Know Jesus Christ Was The Messiah

If you had to concoct a Messiah what would he be like? Would he be the mighty man, warrior and liberator that the Jews expected to smite their enemies and put them in charge of the world? Possibly, but certainly not the first time he came to us  (I’ll explain why later). Or would he be the very similar messiah that Islam is awaiting and must be ushered in by the Muslims also by creating the necessary circumstances described in their scriptures for it to happen? Again – possibly but not the first time he came.

So why not the first time? – why can the messiah – or any messiah worth his salt for that matter not come the first time as these two great world religions claim he is to come? It’s very simple. Ask yourself this question; what great leader is worthy of men’s praise that demands those under to him to serve him an fight his battles – be they physical or spiritual – but is not prepared to serve those very people himself?

In other words, what military commander or leader is a great leader or general that isn’t himself willing to go out on the front line and lay down his life for his troops and his country? Of course these kind of men are few and far between but that have, and do still exist. That I submit is the mark or real and true greatness – putting others before yourself and being willing to carry out your own commands to the troops rather than sit back and sip Martinis, and I propose that any messiah that says; do as I say, but is not prepared himself to do it and lay his life down, is simply not worthy of praise.

There is only one religion and one messiah that fits that description of greatness – of love and of self-lessness – and even then, tho he may be revered, he would not be worthy or worship if he were just a sinful man like the rest of us – but as we know Christ was both servant AND sinless! Only such a man – and most (but not all) Christians believe Jesus was the spirit of God clothed in flesh and if he really was God in flesh – then if He laid down his life being God in-carnate (in flesh) – then nothing less than worship would be appropriate for such a being and such a sacrifice. This is how we know Jesus was the real messiah. We also know that the next time he returns it will also be in it’s proper order – this time not as the necessary servant lamb – but as his also necessary alter-ego – the roaring lion.
