Greetings of the season to you all…
I don’t want to be a kill-joy, but I have never been completely comfortable with Christmas – even as a kid I felt something was up with it – apart from the whole giving presents to everyone which I guess is a nice gesture, the fact that no one seemed to care about Jesus and more about Santa was what I always found more disturbing (my family were not practicing Christians at the time).
But lo and behold, the other day this verse was brought to my attention which knocked my socks off as I had no idea it existed – just missed it when reading The Bible…
“For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not.” – Jeremiah 10
Now that may not be referring directly to Christmas or Christmas trees but it sure is interesting the way The Bible views certain traditions and customs! Worth more study for me and you all I would suggest.
