Christ did not create a ‘new’ church, he was Jewish, worshipped the God that the Jews claimed to worship, and went in to the synagogues and stood up to speak and correct their errors. The disciples came out after he had done this and followed him but he nor they said; “we are going to start a new church.” They were effectively ejected and rejected from the Jewish temples.
