It seems that according to The Bible if we want the big things of God we must first be faithful and good stewards of the little things. And I’m not talking material things here, we are not as Christians supposed to be concerned with wealth and possessions if we are to emulate our leader Jesus, who forsook all and had not even a pillow to lay his head.
It makes sense – who would give their beloved son or daughter the keys to a Ferrari if they hadn’t learnt the highway rules? We would put ourselves and others in danger.
Find out what the big things of God really are (look at Christ)
The world will tell you success is a great job, a happy family and a good income. Well these are all signs of success and not wrong in themselves – but they are worldly and will not count as valuable in the new kingdom so we need to also discern what success means in God’s kingdom – after all that’s where we hope to spend eternity
Do the small things well
Most don’t consider asking a friend if they are lonely, or cooking some food for someone or doing the shopping for someone is not ‘Godly’ because it doesn’t involve evangelising but they are wrong – caring for others is precisely what The Bible tells us to do for by seeing how we love one another they will see the love of God in action, not just in words – words are cheap – time is not.
Be faithful in the small things, helping your neighbour, loving your Christian brothers and sisters (not only telling them verbally or praying for them – doing something and loving them practically. Time is what we all find so hard to give me included, and Jesus devoted all his time and even gave his life for others).
