It’s a myth to think that there are men and then there are beasts – all men are beasts when left to their natural devices without God and put under the right worldly pressures. After all the scientists tell us (and they are right) that biologically we are identical in terms of being flesh and blood as the animal kingdom. Make no mistake and think that you are somehow not capable of bad behaviour or putting yourself first – if you continue in this way of thinking, God, in order to grow your spiritual understanding may have to show you your error and just how animal-like you can be when tempted or pressured by life and you don’t want that!
Flesh and Blood – the very thing that allows us to display God’s character by putting others’ needs first!
However there is one big difference between a man and the animal kingdom as we think of it separate – we have the capability to be lifted out of our animal-like tendencies – our natural behaviour to put self first as the animals do by seeing and listening and conforming to the image of God in flesh – Christ – the one who ALWAYS put others before himself – the one who went totally against his fleshly desires and gave us a glimpse of heaven and hope that we will one day regain our spiritual and un-needy bodies – in God’s incredible wisdom the thing that causes us to put ourselves first, but incredibly, with all its infirmities and potential for discomfort, the very thing that also allows us to put the comfort of others first and display the real character of God who is all about putting self last, demonstrated when He – creator and Lord of all gave himself for us!
